Playing

How do I play?

Seven questions a day, and every answer is a number. Type your guess before the toaster’s 20 seconds run out, then pop it.

Get as close as you can without going over.

How does scoring work?

Spot on is 1,000 points: a Yeast Feast, and a jar of jam drops from the sky into your collection. The closer you get from below, the more golden your toast and the more points you score.

Go over the answer, even slightly, and you’re burnt: 0 points. Run out of time and it’s also 0. The best possible day is 7,000.

When is the next Yeastimate?

A new set of seven arrives every day at midnight, your local time. The countdown on the home screen shows how long is left.

Where do the answers come from?

Every answer is checked against a published source. After you play, the results page lists each answer with a link to its source.

Can I play more than once a day?

The daily counts once. After that, tap Practice round to play practice sets and past days. Practice rounds don’t count towards your score or unlocks.

How do I unlock breads and accessories?

Open the Bread Bin (your toast in the top corner). Each locked item says what you need to do, like playing 7 days in a row. Only dailies and Toast-Offs count. The rarest of all is The Holy Jam: a Yeast Feast on all 7 questions in one day.

How does my streak work?

Play the daily on consecutive days to build a streak. Miss a day and it starts again. Tap the calendar on the home screen to see past scores.

Playing with friends

What is the Crumb Club?

A private scoreboard for you and your mates. Start a club, tap Invite friends and send the link. Anyone who opens it can join. See who did best today or this week.

You can be in up to 5 clubs, and each holds up to 30 people. Friends appear on the board once they’ve played a daily.

What is Toast-Off?

A live game for 2 to 6 people. Everyone gets the same question and 20 seconds. Whoever scores lowest loses a life, and going over scores 0. Three lives each; last toast standing wins.

Tap Quick join to hop into any toaster that’s waiting for players, or pick one from the open list. To host, choose how many players (2 to 6) and whether anyone can join or only people with your 4-letter code. It starts as soon as it’s full.

You can play up to 10 Toast-Offs a day.

What is the Hall of Flame?

The public leaderboard: today’s top toasters, the all-time top 10, the most Toast-Off wins, your rank, and a few highlights like the rarest perfect slice.

How do I change my name?

Every name is unique, and you can change yours once: open the Bread Bin and tap Change next to Your name. After that it’s locked, so choose well. Names are filtered to keep things friendly.

Your account

Do I need an account?

No. You can play without one, and your progress is saved in your browser.

An account keeps your streak, breads and clubs safe if you switch phones, play on another device, or your browser clears its data. Safari, for example, can clear site data if you don’t visit for a while.

How do I make an account?

Open the Bread Bin and tap Create account, then Continue with Google or use an email and password. Everything you’ve already played comes with you.

How do I play on another device?

Open the Bread Bin there, tap I have an account, and sign in the same way you did before (Google or email). Your progress from both devices is combined.

I forgot my password

Tap I have an account, type your email and tap Forgot password?. We’ll email you a link to set a new one. Check your spam folder if it doesn’t arrive.

How do I delete my data?

Open the Bread Bin and tap Delete at the bottom, then tap again to confirm. This removes your leaderboard entry, club memberships and everything saved on your device, plus your account if you have one.

The app

Can I put it on my home screen?

iPhone: open yeastimate.com in Safari, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.

Android: open it in Chrome, tap the ⋮ menu, then Add to Home screen or Install app.

It then opens full screen, like an app.

Is it free?

Yes.
